Righteous Judgement in Antigone Essay - 942 Words

At the beginning of the play, Antigone brought Ismene outside the city gates at night for a top secret meeting. Antigone wanted to bury her brother Polyneices body because even though he died in dishonor he was her brother. Ismene refused to disobey the king which is also their Uncle Creon, and she failed to talk Antigone out of doing the act herself. Consider, sister, how our father died,/hated and infamous; how he brought to light/his own offenses..Then, mother...did shame/violently on her life, with twisted cords. Third, our two brothers, on a single day...Each killed the other, hand against brothers hand. Creon then accused the prophet of corrupting him, and in return the prophet warned him that he would lose one child due to his mistake of leaving Polyneices unburied and also for deciding to kill Antigone. The Chorus then pleaded that Creon should heed to the prophets advice, and bury Polyneices and free Antigone, Creon finally accepted. All of a sudden a messenger alerts Creon that Haemon had committed suicide. This caused Eurydice, Creon’s wife and Haemon’s mother to commit suicide as well. This caused a domino effect because then another messenger rushed to tell Creon that he was too late, Antigone had hung herself therefore committed suicide. Creon blamed himself for everything that had happened. In the end he still had his power over Thebes, he was still king, but in order to keep his crown he lost his two nephews in battle, one he honored the other he put to shame even after death, he also lost his son, his wife, and his niece/future daughter-in-law. Essay on Vulgar Wedding Roast by a Childhood Friend

Vulgar Wedding Speech by a Childhood Friend Good evening ladies and gentlemen. This is my first experience in playing such a large role in a wedding. And I really appreciate Lee and Susan giving me the opportunity to make a fool of myself in front their friends and family, rather than just my own all the time. Yes, I am feeling pretty nervous at the moment, but not as nervous as Lee was this morning. He said that he had a few butterflies in his stomach. Well, he should be feeling better now, as I found this in the toilet just after hed left it. [hold up a brick] But unlike me he didn’t have anything to be nervous about. Everything has gone to plan and I can’t imagine a happier way to start married life than in this wonderful†¦show more content†¦Unfortunately, I have played a part in most of these incriminating events and I really dont want to tarnish my impeccable reputation. So instead, Ill keep things very short by talking about Lees one and only weakness – an inability to wipe himself (wipe his own arse)! According to his brother Graham, he relied on his mom (mum) to perform this service for him. Lee would scream at the top of his voice â€Å"I’VE FINISHED†, which was his mother’s (mum’s) cue to come running to his aid. This went on for many years, but I’m not going reveal how old he was when it finally stopped as it’s just too humiliating. Suffice to say, 21 turned out to be his mother’s lucky number! Without wishing to go on about Lee’s ass (arse), it’s only fair to also mention the time his father came to his rescue. He was on a family holiday in Spain when Lee developed a massive, double headed boil between his cheeks. This was causing him considerable distress and his father could bear the suffering and screaming no more. So armed with a pair of scissors he set about removing the offending thing. But he failed to get a good grip on Lee’s tongue and squeezed the boil out instead. Ladies and Gentlemen, its been an honor albeit the most terrifying experience of my life to be the best man here today and I’d like to offer the bride and groom the traditional Best Man’s wish of good luck, good health and happiness. I must also wish you an enjoyable honeymoon. Watch out for the Hotel pool thoughShow MoreRelatedAfro-Asian Literature10586 Words   |  43 Pagescould not answer myself. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends. Most Indian business communities begin the financial year on the first day of Diwali. Diwali commemorates the return of  Lord Rama, along with  Sita  and  Lakshman, from his fourteen-year-long exile and vanquishing the demon-king  Ravana. In joyous celebration of the return of their king, the people of  Ayodhya, the Capital of Rama, illuminated the kingdom with earthen  diyas  (oil lamps) and burst firecrackers. [5] In Jainism, Diwali marks the attainment of  moksha  or  nirvana  by  Mahavira  in 527 BC. [6][7]  In Sikhism,  Deepavali  commemorates the return of  Guru Har Gobind Ji  to  Amritsar  after freeing 52 Hindu kings imprisoned in Fort  Gwalior  by defeating Emperor  Jahangir; the people lit candles and diyas to celebrate his return. From darkness into light — the light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds, that which brings us closer to divinity. During Diwali, lights illuminate every corner of India and the scent of incense sticks hangs in the air, mingled with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope. Diwali is celebrated around the globe. Outside India, it is more than a Hindu festival, it’s a celebration of South-Asian identities. 5] While Deepavali is popularly known as the â€Å"festival of lights†, the most significant spiritual meaning is â€Å"the awareness of the inner light†. Central to Hindu philosophy is the assertion that there is something beyond the physical body and mind which is pure, infinite, and eternal, called the  Atman. The celebration of Deepavali as the â€Å"victory of good over evil†, refers to the light of higher knowledge dispelling all ignorance, the ignorance that masks one’s true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite,  immanent  and  transcendent  reality. With this awakening comes compassion and the awareness of the oneness of all things (higher knowledge). This brings  ananda  (joy or peace). Just as we celebrate the birth of our physical being, Deepavali is the celebration of this Inner Light. While the story behind Deepavali and the manner of celebration varies from region to region (festive fireworks, worship, lights, sharing of sweets), the essence is the same – to rejoice in the Inner Light (Atman) or the underlying Reality of all things (Brahman). An offer that is at present traded at EUR 10 may move to EUR 15 after another piece of information has been circulated. Some person who offers the offer at EUR 10 will persevere through the loss of EUR 5. If the information had been available to him likewise, he would have held up be fore advertising. Examiner trust in associations, which endeavor to get rich to the inconvenience of others, will drop. Besides, theorists will pull once again from the business segment, which will drive up the cost of capital for all associations and mischief the thriving of the economy (Bainbridge, 2013). Key accomplices particularly affected by insider trading fuse all business division individuals subject to disasters who cannot fulfill grabs in light of the way that they are not honestly instructed. Market individuals consolidate any person who has traded stock through fiscal instruments, including individuals stocks, portfolios, shared resources, retirement organizes, enlightening store reserves and all beneficiaries of such instruments. Without trust in the system, it appears to be likely that all individuals lose. This is an essential thought of social contract speculation and the ethical thought of value as it relates to insider trading (Bainbridge, 2013). As officially determined, insider trading is an encroachment of distributive value in association with one side of equal information for all merchants. According to the speculation of John Rawls, traders should avoid participating in insider trading solicitation to guarantee their own favorable circumstances and the interests of others. Since the offer-exchanging framework is transforming into an unyieldingly overall component, inside agents need to consider the results of their exercises, subsequent to more often than not, they will in like manner be at risk to the decisions of others. While considering moral fundamental initiative using speculations of value, the completions don not legitimize the techniques paying little respect to how broad or little the impacted gatherings. This is an incredibly basic thought to think about, yet as a couple of remarkable hypotheses, speculations (Vataliya, 2009). Reference In Bainbridge, S. M. (2013).
